Making wine is always an experience. More than a hundred steps make the wine. We work very carefully in the vineyard to harvest healthy and ripe grapes in autumn. Each vine absorbs the impressions of nature and gives the wine its personality. Our philosophy is to make wines that show the fruit and character of the grape. We love the style that we get from our cool climate and the soils of the Kamptal – the aromas are clear, proud and expressive.<\/p>\n

We focus on the most important varieties of the Kamptal, the Gr\u00fcner Veltliner and the Riesling. These varieties are very attractive to us, as they produce very large diversitys due to the different locations, vintage conditions and vinification. In Kamptal, the unique climatic conditions and the special soil shape the characteristic properties of the leading varieties Gr\u00fcner Veltliner and Riesling, which underline their exclusivity through the protected designation of origin “Kamptal DAC”.<\/p>\n

Dhe characteristics of a wine are significantly influenced by the climatic conditions and the nature of the soil. Each vine absorbs the impressions of nature and gives the wine its own personality. In Kamptal, the characteristic qualities are particularly evident in the leading varieties Gr\u00fcner Veltliner and Riesling. Therefore, only precisely defined wines of these two varieties may bear the protected designation of origin “Kamptal DAC”.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

The origin plays a decisive role, DAC stands for “Districtus Austriae Controllatus” or “controlled Austrian origin” and identifies a specific region. The first stage, the regional wine, reflects the diversity of the Kamptal wine-growing region. The second level represents the traditional local wines. The third level, the Riedenwein, forms the top of the Kamptal DAC with a special expression. The respective category is immediately recognizable on the label of the bottle: a regional wine bears the name “Kamptal”, a local wine is called “Langenlois” and the vineyard wine shows the location. A Riesling Kamptal DAC is characterized by its fragrant, aromatic, elegant and mineral notes, without being dominated by botrytis or wood notes. Not everywhere where vines are planted, the same quality thrives. It is an old saying that certain vineyards consistently produce exceptional wines year after year. The knowledge of these special locations has been passed down and deepened over many generations. Their importance in the local vineyard landscape can still be felt today. Important vineyard sites are characterized not only by the geographical characteristics of the vineyard and the quality of the wines grown there, but also by their history and communal cultivation over the centuries. The significance of a location thus arises from the symbiosis of all these factors. This is how the term “\u00d6TW ERSTE LAGE” (1\u00d6TW) came about. We attach particular importance to ensuring that the diversity of varieties is not lost in the Kamptal. In recent years, we have brought not only Riesling, but also Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat back into the limelight. Sauvignon Blanc and Muscatel are fresh and aromatic. Pinot Blanc is full-bodied due to its maturation in large wooden barrels. With the ros\u00e9 wines, we want to emphasize the respective character of the Zweigelt (classic), Cabernet Sauvignon (fruity) and Merlot (strong – berry) varieties.
